The Ydro Process®

is the continuous adaptation of selected microbial population to the local operating wastewater plant conditions and parameters according to the targets. The added bacteria become dominant and the existing ones are adapted and assimilated to coexist and collaborate. In suitable conditions the added microorganisms produce enzymes which enhance the biological process. The degradation of complex organic molecules, oils and greases into simple ones leads to the production of Volatile Fatty Acids (VFAs), i.e. Acetic, Butyric, Propionic Acid etc. The VFAs are then easily converted to Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) in aerobic conditions, methane (CH4) and hydrogen (H2) in anaerobic conditions and free available energy.

90+ Countries

HYDROTECH ENVIRONMENTAL implements the Ydro Process® in more than 90 countries, through sister companies, partners and licencees, covering a vast range of waste and wastewater treatment plants and providing sustainable enviromental solutions.

180+ Projects

HYDROTECH ENVIRONMENTAL currently operates more than 180 Ydro Process® projects worldwide, including municipal and industrial wastewater and the agricultural/composting sector.

2.000 Tons eliminated daily

The total daily dehydrated sludge (25% dry solids) eliminated worldwide by the Ydro Process® exceeds the quantity of 2.000 tons, which is the population equivalent of over 12 million people.

Carbon Footprint

The Ydro Process® reduces the Carbon footprint of the wastewater treament plants by thousands of tons annually, providing cost effective, sustainable and enviromental friendly solutions.

75% Sludge Reduction

The implementation of the Ydro Process® reduces the excess sludge production by at least 70%, with a proportional reduction of the chemical additives. In most cases this reduction percentage is increased, but this mainly depends on the available facility and the local conditions.

100% Odour Elimination

The implementation of the Ydro Process® can reduce the odour production in the sewer grid, wastewater treatment facility and the plant vicinity by up to 100%. This benefit is exremely significant when the treatment facilities are in or even close to populated areas.

Biogas Production Increase

The Ydro Process® increases the convertion of organic matter to methane (CH₄) to 70-75%, under specific conditions, with a simultaneous increase in the methane concentration of the biogas. This combined with the reduction of the hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) of the biogas is of the biogas is of great financial benefit to anaerobic digestion plants.

Improved Crop Yield

The Ydro Process® improves the yield of various crops by at least 40% with a simultaneous reduction of fertilizers usage of at least 35%. This applies for fields, glass houses and flower farming and the product can be applied with the seeds after a specific maturation process or spread on the field.

Optimized Operation

The Ydro Process® increases the overall efficiency of a wastewater treatment plant, improves the effluent and optimizes all biological operations. It is the perfect solution for overloaded and undersized plants, achieving compliance according to local regulations.

Septic Tank Treatment

The Ydro Process® is extremely beneficial to the operation of septic tanks. It unclogs pipelines and blockages, eliminates odours and degrades organic matter at an accelerated rate. The specialized microbial strains reduce the septic tank emptying frequency and maintain optimum performance.

Environmental Conscious

The Ydro Process® minimizes the environmental impact by reducing the production of excess sludge, reduces the chemical additives, requires less energy for operation and is a 100% biodegradable material. unfortunately, landfill disposal, land application, incineration and other currently used methods have a huge carbon footprint, they cause long-term contamination of water bodies, involve big volumes of sludge for transportation and are very energy consuming.

Financial Sustainability

The Ydro Process® allows municipalities and private entities to save significant operational costs on sludge management, chemical additives supply, power consumption and manpower. The overall treatment cost of the Ydro process® per wastewater volume is decreased to a fraction of conventional methods.

Operational Innovation

The Ydro Process® does not require any extra facility or equipment for it to be applied. The use and application is easy and user friendly, unlike other currently used methods for sludge management which require huge investments, specialized equipment and infrastructure, along with the complicated operations.
